Already stripped of his civil powers, Cortés felt compelled to go to Spain to exercise with the Crown whatever influence he had left. He took with him other renowned conquistadors, a son of the Aztec Emperor Motecuhzoma and a number of lords of Mexico and Tlaxcala, and several very white natives, dwarfs and strange creatures, arriving at Palos toward the end of 1528. (Robert Weddle, 1985: 155)
