Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was proclaimed Elizabeth II on the death of her father, George VI, on February 6, 1952, and crowned on June 2, 1953. In December 1952 were announced the styles of the royal title as applicable to the Commonwealth countries, in all of which the queen is accepted as head of the Commonwealth.
