The saker falcon (definitive issue) is listed as endangered because a population trend analysis indicates that it may be undergoing a very rapid decline. The global population was estimated at 44,200 individuals in 1990, and 21,000 in 2013. The negative trend is a result of a range of anthropogenic factors including habitat degradation, and unsustainable capture for the falconry trade. (IUCN)
